What a devastating loss for the young pitcher yesterday. His two worst outings have both come against the Orioles. This time he pitched 5 2/3 and allowed 3 runs. He just had a tough time with them. Matt Weiters and Nolan Reimold had Vargas’s number. Both ei just took Vargas all day long. My biggest qualm with Vargas is it seems he can’t pitch very long. I want to see the kid consistenly pitch to the 7th inning. As good as our bullpen is if a bullpen has to continue to pitch then they will get tired and won’t be able to pitch at their best.
Vargas needs to wipe this game off his shoulders and pitch like he can. I want to see this kid pitch because he is good. My question though is how long can he last. His biggest issues in the past are if he can last a whole season. I want to know if has the endurance to pitch a whole season. Can he even pitch a CG? Back with Florida he started hot just like this but when the second half rolled around he started to fade. Does he need to beef up his endurance training? What is this kid going to look like in the long run?
