Real Madrid

If there was a team desperately trying to win it would spell R-E-A-L M-A-D-R-I-D.  I mean I like the moves they are making but they are not even close to being done.  I mean getting Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Raul Albiol, and possibly Franck Ribery and Xavi Alonso.  They picked up two of the best players in the world right now.  Kaka won Player of the Year in 2007 Cristiano won in 2008. They have solidified their frontcourt unfortunately now they have too much front and not enough defence.  Their defence is good but compared to their offence it is lack luster.  Also on the bench they have Higuain, Raul,Drenthe, Ruud, Van der Vaart, Jan Huntelaar, Sneijder, and Guti.  I figure for their 3 offensive mf they’ll play Robben, Cristiano, and Kaka.  The smartest thing Real can do is to transfer their players and get some stud cb lb or rb.

Of course they are going with Pepe, Albiol, and Ramos who are all stellar but they used to have Cannavaro.  Cannavaro was that star defender that is necessary in the backfield.  At def midfielders they have a lot of potential with Gago.  However if they want to be back where they once were they need solidify their defense more than their offense because the guys they have their are amazing.

To go with the crowd however I am going to have to agree GET RID OF THE DUTCH Real.  You have 4-5 dutchmen that you don’t need and are paying them where you can use that to spend on other aspect of your game.  Real also needs to figure out what to do with Raul and Guti, the two captains.  Play some 4-4-2 sometimes along with the 4-2-3-1 system.   You need the two personalities of these two to succeed.  Also Real needs to platoon Benzema with Higuain because he is good.  Higuain was 1 goal behind Messi who is locked on for FIFA POY.

Vargas vs Sabathia

If there was anything that could really put Vargas into a tailspin it would be playing the Yankees at Yankee stadium against Sabathia.  The young pitcher has had some sub-par starts as of late and needs a good outing to put him back track.  He is going to be intimidated playing away at the most intense stadium in the country.  He is going to have battle those demons he has and pitch like he can.  He has the talent to pitch well but he needs to mentally get back into the right mind set of the game.  He could really turn his season around with a good game or dare I say a win…

Sabathia on the other hand has been able to cope with the Yankee crowd rather well.  He is playing well but if he wants to win over the fans he is going to have to win a lot more games and put the team in the race to win a world series because anything less won’t be remembered.  NY is that kind of playing field where championships are only hung up.  Where as in Seattle we hang up any kind of accomplishment.
